DIGITAL LEATHER Indie / Electro / Alternative

Early on, Foree teamed up with his friend Ryan Wong (The Reatards, Lost Sounds, Destruction Unit) and soon released the band's first official record, "Digital Leather"[3], pressed by I Don't Feel A Thing Records. "The record was accidental," claims Foree, who insists the recordings were never meant to leave cd-r format. From 2004-05 Digital Leather appeared on several compilations and self-released cd-r's and also released a 7" single on Plastic Idol Records out of Sacramento. Ryan Wong was pulled from Digital Leather to work on other projects, returning Foree back to a one man show. In early 2006, Shattered Records released Digital Leather's next two efforts: a split single with Angry Angles and an LP entitled Monologue;[4] an album full of dark musings and dirty electronic beats. Foree then disappeared from the scene altogether for almost two years. Then, in late 2007, two more full-length records were released. Both albums were recorded in Foree's bedroom in Tucson. Also that year, Goner Records released the She Had A Cameltoe 7",[5] which gained the attention of the lo-fi, garage rock music scene. As a follow-up to this single, Goner released the full-length, Sorcerer, in 2008. Sorcerer combined live concert recordings and studio material including a cover of The Urinals' "Hologram".

In mid-2008, Foree began working on a collection of songs in his friend's home, which had been converted to a fully operational studio. Three months into the eight month endeavor, he was contacted by indie label Fat Possum. In March 2009, Digital Leather signed on with Fat Possum Records to release the critically championed Warm Brother and later announced friend and former band-mate Jay Reatard as the band manager. The name of the record refers to a Nazi derogative for homosexuals. Foree claims to have chosen this title to represent his general sense of social exclusion.[2][6][7] With the release of Warm Brother, Pitchfork described Digital Leather as "sui generis", confirming that Foree's music stood alone in style.[7].
