Shawn Greenlee /Pleasurehorse
Greenlee is a composer and performer of experimental music. His work centers on freestyle performance with computer systems for both sound and image. Since 1992, Greenlee has been standing at the epicenter of Providence’s panicked music scene, and is best known for his solo electronic music, under the moniker, Pleasurehorse, as well as for founding and performing in the frenetic rock group, Landed (est. 1997). Other points of reference include his membership in the band, Six Finger Satellite (1999-2002), and his role in Providence's warehouse community of the late 90s including, the art collective and venue, Fort Thunder. <br><br> Greenlee has recorded for a number of labels including Load, Utech, Vermiform, Hospital Productions, and History of the Future (see discography). He tours extensively appearing at venues ranging from clubs and warehouse-parties to galleries and concert halls. <br><br> He has performed at festivals and conferences such as: International Computer Music Conference (ICMC): 2005 Barcelona, Spain & 2004 Miami, FL;Boston Cyberarts Festival: 2005 Boston, MA; Performance Studies International: 2005 Providence, RI; New West Electro-Acoustic Organization (NWEAMO): 2004 Portland, OR and San Diego, CA; Listening in the Sound Kitchen: 2003 Princeton, NJ; Electric Rainbow Coalition: 2003 Hanover, NH; and the More Than Music Festival: 2001 Columbus, OH. <br><br> Greenlee is a PhD candidate at Brown University where he is affiliated with MEME (Multimedia and Electronic Music Experiments). Other education includes an MA in Music from Brown University (2003) and a BFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design (1996). <br><br>
