The story began around the turn of this century..... Utopia:banished is the brainchild of one person. Fed up with bands he played in before and unable to find soulmates to translate his ideas into music, Chris started off alone with a guitar, a synth and a computer. The attempt of combining electronics with songwriting and rock music wasn't new. "I started to explore all the great music I have missed in the 90s. Industrial, Drum n Bass, TripHop and so on... I was just a little late." .... Equiped with solid musical ability and not ready to get along with other musicians who joined (and left) the project started as a selfish egotrip: building a unique universe of sounds, noises and feelings from scratch. Within this space the vocals of the selfdeclared "lyrical war correspondent" range from vulnerable honesty to brutally screaming anger. "The music is disturbing, noisy and constantly evolving. It features elements of uncertainty and it's something not to be practised at cocktail-parties. It's an attempt of leaving. A decomposition of preformated structures in an amusing way." .... Until 2008 utopia:banished have released three records (NANO in 2003; INNOCENT pt.II in 2004 and DIRTWARD in 2006) and were featured on AENTITAINMENTs Vinyl-Compilation WHITELINE Vol.I. They did remixes for several artists and composed the score for a short-film. utopia:banished also made a track for the theatre play "Irrlichter" - a bandpractise to take the songs of the DIRTWARD-album to the stage. .... In 2007 utopia:banished evolved to a four-headed live-band. The hard, edgy and unconventional live-sound of a fully equipped electronic setup with a full force rock band is - once again - nothing new in theory. but after all it still is what hardwired magazine wrote about the band: "The act that sounds like nothing you've ever heard before"
