Black Cobra is a doom metal and sludge band from San Francisco, California. The band was formed in 2001 by Jason Landrian and Rafael Martinez (who was also the former bassist for Acid King).
After logging several years of experience with sludge metal icons Cavity and doom prognosticators Acid King, among other bands, New York-based vocalist and guitarist Jason Landrian and L.A. -based drummer Rafael Martinez began working in 2001 on a new project that would ultimately become known as Black Cobra. An eponymous EP eventually saw the light of day in 2004, followed by the full-length Bestial in 2006 and mini-album Feather and Stone in 2007, by which time the duo had developed into a vicious, super-distorted heavy metal machine reminiscent of Mastodon and High on Fire.

In the great Canadian spirit of loss and heart ache, the downer foursome known as BISON b.c. have managed to scourge their rotting brains desperately puking out new psalms of suffering. From the west coast melting pot of shit and failure; in a country based on terrifying distance and lonesome, stoic suffering comes Lovelessness; not portraying the death of love or the lack of the same. Rather it attempts to map out the pathetic and desperate pursuit of love, which in itself becomes violent like a cancer, an assault on anything that is good in the world. A heartfelt repulsion towards anything that could bring pleasure, because with happiness we suffer truly - the wanting of more. Gluttons! Pigs to the trough! Lead us to treachery! Lead us to solitude!

While orthodoxy and predictably has taken its toll on the once so exciting Norwegian Black Metal scene, a quite different breed of metal is establishing itself in the northern outpost of our civilization. At the forefront
of a scene boiling with sludgy and industrial
metal is Arabrot, a band that are now about to be
represent for the young generation what the sum of
Melvins, Throbbing Gristle and Swans was to the
generation before them.

These Mountains Are Ghosts came to light in the spring of 2010, with ex-members from the new-school hardcore band .Ender and the post-rock band Koan. TMAG's music is most accurately described as hardcore with metal influences, complex riffs and the occasional odd beat combined with thunderous vocals. In the autumn of 2010 they recorded a five-song demo which is still available as a free download. This demo was well received in the press, with highly rated reviews in RifRaf, Cutting Edge and RMP among others. Owing to this demo, TMAG played many high profile shows and festivals across Belgium, including RioRock, Ziggypop and RMP fest, building a live reputation with loud and energetic performances.
The band has now released their first full album entitled "Demon Horde" on Fun
time Records. With mastering from Alan Douches at West West Side Music and guest vocals from the throats of the BEAR, Musth and Essence frontmen, this debut album gets into darker and heavier territory, bringing out the sludge hammer to smash your face in when you are least expecting it, whilst maintaining the tortuous riffage and idiosyncratic rhythms from the demo. These Mountains Are Ghosts are looking forward to a busy calendar this autumn, so be sure to check them out at a show near you.
