DARKEN THE MOON VI
Saturnus
Saturnus is a band from Copenhagen, Denmark formed in 1991, playing melodic death doom metal, with touches of gothic metal. They sing of sorrow, loss, and death. They’re known for switching between three vocal styles - clean, growl and recitation.    In 1991 lead vocalist Thomas A.G. Jensen started looking for people to start a death metal band. He hooked up with bass-player Brian Hansen who was also looking for people into the same act. After a few months the band (at that time called “Assesino”) was joined by a drummer and guitarist. In 1992 the drummer was replaced and an additional guitarist entered the band. In the following year a number of musicians entered and left the band.   In 1993 the people of Assesino were Thomas A.G. Jensen (vocal), Brian Hansen (bass), Christian Brenner (guitar), Pouli Choir (drums), Kim Sindahl (guitar). The band played at a metal-competition (Judgment Day) in BarBue (Huset, Cph.) and ended up second out of eight bands. Shortly after the band split up and Thomas, Brian and Kim Sindahl found a new drummer, Jesper Saltoft. A month later Kim Sindahl left the band and guitarist Mikkel Andersen joined in. It would not be long after Mikkel joined the band that a keyboard player was found, his name Anders Ro Nielsen. At this time the name “Assesino” was replaced by Saturnus.
Thurisaz
Thurisaz began as a quartet in May 1997, with Peter on guitar and grunts, Mattias on guitar and screams, Pepijn on drums and Lars on bass. In 1999 Kobe joined on synths, an event that defined the sound of Thurisaz in the stages to come. After several demos, the band released it's first full-album Scent of a Dream in 2004. The album sums up the best Thurisaz has to offer: very variated, high standard avantgarde doom-metal with lots of emotion and depth. The reviews were really amazing and no one could really understand why this band hadn't been signed yet.    By that time their growing live reputation gained access across the borders, which finally resulted in a European tour with doomlegends Novembers Doom (US) and Saturnus (DK). Soon after the tour the band signed a labeldeal with Shiver Records, who will be releasing two albums.    In the winter of 2006 Thurisaz crashed the studio again to record their second masterpiece "Circadian Rhythm", which was released by Shiver in april 2007. The album was critically well acclaimed throughout the metalpress and confirmed the band's status as an upcoming European metaltalent. The band promoted the album as much as they can, with as highlights a US-and EU-tour and a spot on the prestigious Graspop Metal Meeting.    In 2011, with a the bassplayer Hannes and an endorsement by Mayones Guitars, Thurisaz released their third full-length "The Cimmerian Years". The album was once again recorded in the CCR-studio and is released by Sleaszy Rider Records.    Anno 2014, after a few line-up changes, Thurisaz has found a stable line-up once again with Nick Meganck on bass. Currently they're working on their fourth album, that should be released in the beginning of 2015.
Eye of Solitude
Eye Of Solitude are a Doom / Death band from London UK, formed in April 2010.   The music is inspired by emotional distress, inner pain and a cruel combination of negativity and grief. Dark shapes that terrorize the soul and keep it captive on the altar of suffering, until when not being able to breathe any longer, it finds its end - a supreme escape towards peace and eternal rest.   The Eye Of Solitude is the heart of forests where unsettled spirits dwell, it is the fear within, the carnal ripping of every thought when abandoned in despair, it is nightmare and enlightenment, a fearsome tide that carries the soul and mind onto dark realms of insanity.   After "The Ghost", debut album released in June 2011, and a self-titled EP (which you can listen to on ReverbNation or MySpace), the band are currently working our their second full-length, titled "Sui Caedere", which will be released in June 2012.
Marche Funèbre
Being around since 2008, these Belgians are one of the scene's most hard working bands. Having released 3 albums, the youngest one 'Into the Arms of Darkness' is out since February this year, some EP's, and over 100 shows done in over 10 countries, they know how to storm a stage, and bring their eclectic death doom metal with passion and dedication!
GROWN BELOW (BE) Dark / Post-metal
Grown Below

Grown Below arose from the ashes of Timer in early 2011, continuing the path to the full album The Long Now with the same sound, but more evolved. With the rising of this fresh band the decision fell that from then on Matthijs (who previously was the singer of Timer) also took on the guitar and helped the band sound more like it should.    Grown Below may be influenced by the usual suspects (Cult of Luna, Isis, Tool etc.) but they certainly go beyond being mere epigones. Mixing ambient and atmospheric pieces with beastly heavy monolithic blows to the head, their music results in a promising and unique sound that can only be grasped as dark and utterly bleak.    The band signed with Slow Burn Records in june 2011, after finishing their debut album, that was due to be released in september that year.   At the same time the band had already begun creating new songs and ideas for the quick follow-up of their full-album 'The Long Now'.
