Heavy-hearted but hopeful trumpet melodies, German lyrics that make you question your past and future once again, synthesizer sounds in the great tradition of heroes like Depeche Mode, DAF or Nitzer Ebb, combined with hard-hitting drum machines “ this forms the base for DIE SELEKTION's self-proclaimed Prosecco Wave world.
After thirteen years of shared band history, two studio albums, a number of singles, EPs and dozens of live shows in over 22 countries worldwide, the bandmembers Luca Gillian, Hannes Rief, Samuel Savenberg and Max Rieger turned DIE SELEKTION into an influential band that manages to bring both goth kids and techno fans onto the same dancefloor with a unique blend of Synth-Pop and Electronic Body Music.
Arrived in 2023, the masters of Prosecco Wave are finally back with their third studio album ZEUGE AUS LICHT (out on September 29, 2023), the quartet (which however performs as a duo live) releases a new studio record into the wild and throws a rave on the ruins of the present, somewhere between the apocalypse and the rampant insanity of our times. The news songs expand the sound of the band with an almost casual, elegant diversity. Every single component shines, and an understanding of what makes pop really pop comes through that adds a knowing, ironic glitter to the black nihilism of dark electronic music. With no fear in its heart, DIE SELEKTION heads towards a new chapter. And we're excited for all that comes next.
Poison Point started as a solo project operated by Timothée Gainet. It features screaming synths hammered by a frantic drum machine, topped by Tim's echoed vocal to rule over the dance floor fog. The debut album “Motorpsychold” released in 2016 was deeply influenced by post-punk and minimal synth. Later on this year, He was joined by Arnaud Derochefort on keyboards and programming and the sound of the project turned to look even more to electronic music.
The band shared the stage with bands such as Adult (US), Qual (UK), Drab Majesty (US), Xeno & Oakland (US), Die Selektion (GER), Rendez-Vous (FR) Silent Servant (US)
In 2017, the duo return with a throbbing vengeance and waste no time in forcing you to the blackened dance floor. The humming menace of a six string looms in the distance as Gainet’s vocal, aided by a pulsing synth laced backed beat drives « Imaginary Veil » straight to the hips.
They signed in November 2018 on the Berlin based label Aufnahme + Wiedergabe and released the record « Bestiensäule » an EBM banger with a coldwave mood fueled by a taste of techno.
Before taking a long break the duo released « Oblivion » and « Your Are The Clock », two new tracks on the Parisian label Intervision alongside four remixes from Qual, Sydney Valette, Blind Delon and IV Horsemen. Which confirmed their affinity with EBM and techno music still in a very melancholic mood so specific to their post-punk roots.
Les membres de Frozen Nation sont D&D, Moss et Elvis. Ils se sont rencontrés au Spector Studio à Bruxelles lors d'un hiver particulièrement rigoureux. Partageant une passion commune pour la musique new-wave et post-punk ils commencent à écrire des chansons ensemble et sortent dans la foulée leur 1er titre : "I Failed For You" : https://youtu.be/9WOWVqeNu1w Elvis est un synthétiseur modulaire construit pendant les années 70 par un génie inconnu pour le groupe Jethro Tull, lorsque D&D le trouvent lors d'une tournée en France, il est dans un piteux état, ils le soignent et lui redonnent sa splendeur d'antan puis fabriquent d'autres modules électroniques autour de lui. Avant de s'installer à Bruxelles D&D ont travaillé sur Paris avec de nombreux projets et artistes tels que TTC, Holden, DJ Cam, réalisant de la musique pour JC De Castelbajac, Chanel, etc. Ils maîtrisent toutes les étapes de la production musicale depuis la fabrication du matériel de studio jusqu'à l'enregistrement et le mixage en passant par le fait de jouer les instruments. Ils aiment la Disco et la Dance et écrivent des chansons pop et catchy. Moss est originaire du quartier légendaire des Marolles à Bruxelles, il est grand et introverti, il a vécu en Ecosse durant ses études, il cherche toujours à interpréter les mélodies catchy d'une manière crépusculaire et écrit des paroles sombres, c'est un jeu de forces amusant entre lui et D&D mais ce sont ces contradictions qui font le style : la Dark Belgian Disco. L'album a été produit, enregistré et mixé par D&D au Spector Studio à Bruxelles pour le label Sub-Continental. D&D jouent : batterie, basse, guitare, séquences avec le synthétiseur modulaire Elvis, MPC 60, Drumtracks, Prophet VS, Roland sh09, cloche, rototoms, Oberheim M1000, Ensoniq Esq1 et chœurs. Des amis musiciens faisant partie de groupes travaillant au Spector Studio ont été invités à chanter : El Draner de "Joseph" aux chœurs, "Mandales" qui chantent des chœurs péplumiques et qui imitent des bruits d'animaux, Astrid B. & Sabrina chantent chacune une partie lead ainsi que des chœurs. L'album Dark Belgian Disco est influencé par Covenant, And One, Depeche Mode, Chic, Moroder, Dead or Alive, Roxy Music, David Bowie, Kraftwerk, New Order, Joy Division, Killing Joke, The Psychedelic Furs, Alphaville, Bauhaus, Wolfsheim, Heaven 17, John Foxx...
