Dr. Ring Ding Meets Jah On Slide
Dr. Ring Ding Meets Jah On Slide
Dr Ring Ding a.k.a. Richie Senior was born in 1970 in Münster, Germany to a multi-cultural and musical household. His introduction to music began with singing along with his family and learning the recorder (deathly boring) but he soon switched to more interesting instruments such as the trombone. From 1987 on he played in the horn section of El Bosso & die Ping Pongs, one of Germany‘s most famous Ska bands and the only one of its time which sang in German. From this experience he came to love Jamaican music.   Around Christmas of 1992 Richie formed his own band, Dr. Ring-Ding & the Senior Allstars. Over the next ten years they would release five albums, numerous singles and two albums as the backing band for Doreen Shaffer (JA) and Lord Tanamo (JA), and in doing so made their mark on the international Ska scene.   Dr. Ring Ding is a popular live performer, studio musician, arranger and producer in many different music genres such as Swing, Rhythm & Blues, Chanson, Hip Hop, Rumba-Soukouss and Punk, but, above all, in Reggae, Dancehall and Ska.   Richie‘s cooperation with German Reggae producer HP Setter was immortalized on the solo dub album Big T‘ings and on the compilation Riddim In Exile. His work with the Rock crossover band H-Blockx secured him a hit with the tune Ring Of Fire, which went to number 13 on the German charts in the summer of 2000. Further collaborations with H-Blockx followed; among others on the title track of their album Get In The Ring (2002), which boxing world champion Sven Ottke selected as his entrance music.   Dr. Ring Ding has also made spectacular contributions to single selections for national and international producers: Doctor‘s Darling (Germaica Records) went to the top 20 of the German Black Music Charts at the end of 2002 and the German language Vom Vatter (Germaica Records) appeared on numerous Reggae compilations.   Dr. Ring Ding has performed live all over Europe and North America. He has appeared alongside many veterans of Jamaican music (Bob Andy, Doreen Shaffer, Phyllis Dillon, Hopeton Lewis, Derrick Morgan and Dennis Alcapone, just to name a few), and has played in the horn section of the New York Ska band The Toasters, most recently during their 1998 “Independents Day” tour in the US.   Television and radio appearances in Germany, Spain, France and the US have helped spread the positive vibes that emanate from Dr. Ring Ding. As a Deejay, singer and/or trombonist, he has appeared on a number of albums from international Ska, Reggae and Hip Hop artists, such as: Stubborn Allstars (New York) Soul Kid Click (New York) Curse (Germany) Adjusters (Chicago) Toasters (New York) Spook & the Guay (France) and many more   Additionally he has appeared as Deejay or MC with famous sound systems all over Germany, as well as in Rome, Paris, Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Granada, Barcelona, Madrid, Budapest, Szczecin and New York City, such as: Crazy Baldhead (USA), Rude (Italy), Culture Rock, Natural Mystic, Small Axe, Lucky Punch, Kingstone, Pow Pow Movement, Ba Ba Boom Sound and many more   In brief, Dr. Ring Ding lives music, particularly the music of Jamaica! As one of the first performers in Germany who bridge the Ska and Reggae scenes, he has opened many ears and hearts for the “Good Vibes” of his favorite sounds.   VERSUS    Official statement: announcement of the release of Jah on Slide’s new album  With 4 albums to their credit, more than 400 concerts throughout Europe, and a Japan tour JAH ON SLIDE are coming back with a new album  After a few years of silence, the announced come back Those 7 Parisians particularly like the pioneers of 60s ska and the Brits from the 80s who managed to give this musical genre a second breath with the Two Tone movement. Between 60’s ska and revival ska with lyrics in English and French, the Jah on Slide will celebrate their 15th anniversary in 2014. Throughout Europe, they shared stages with the best but also defended causes that were important to them: exclusion, racism, social inequalities, etc. In brief, the Jah On Slide will make the news of ska concerts in France and Europe in 2014!! They were seen with THE SELECTER (GB) in Bologna (Italy)at the Festival for another world, with the Gladiators (JAM), Desmond Dekker (JAM), with the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, with the BAD MANNERS (GB) during their 2011 tour, a tour with The Toasters (USA) in 2002, with the Rude Pressure and the Skaff Links (JAP) during their Japanese tour.(2007)   Several anti fascist/ anti-racist festivals in Europe, in Prag, Geneva, Barcelona, Verona.   This new album, which will be released in 2014 promises to be in a 2Tone and revival spirit, with the originality of the Jah On Slide style, mixing very melodic lines as well as a British Pop note with rythmics that remain very “catchy”. To put it in a nutshell, a different album altogether, as it was the case each time, remaining loyal to this offbeat rhythmic they like so much, though. As for the guests, it’s been said that Dr. RING DING would be part of the project.
Lord Fester Combo
Babylove And The Van Dangos
In a world of fast food music and short expiration dates, Babylove and the van Dangos are hellbent on trying to claw their way through the white bread that fills the airwaves, and give an alternative to people who feel that it doesn't quite fill their belly.  Babylove & the van Dangos are here to play ska and they don't intend on leaving the stage without being dragged off stage, kicking and screaming.   Since Babylove & the van Dangos first set sail from the salty docks of Copenhagen 8 years ago, they've managed to place them selves among the top acts of the ska scene. Their music has brought them all over Europe and as far away as the land of the rising sun. They've played over 400 concerts ranging from some of the biggest festivals in Europe to stages not quite suitable for a seven piece band. They've released three studio albums, appeared on numerous compilations and are now ready to release their fourth album " Let It Come, Let It Go", which will be followed by an extensive European Tour.   With their roots planted deep in the tradition of early Jamaican music, such as Ska and Rocksteady, Babylove & the van Dangos has let their branches grow wild with out any pruning. Listen closely and you will hear influences from everything from Blues to Doo Wop and the lyrical pendulum swings from political to the abstract. The codeword is timeless music that moves your soul as well as your feet. In the tradition of Jamaican music, this is dancing music and Babylove and the van Dangos is a band you want to catch live since it is through their live performances that they've managed to build a solid fan base through out all of Europe.   Good music doesn't need anything but a hard working band and an audience that will carry them on their shoulders. For this band, miles on the road counts more than Youtube hits. Having a beer after the gig with old and new friends counts more than Facebook fans. And giving the people who have put them where they are today the best live show possible is a duty. In the words of the band itself , " It's a beautiful relationship. We know that the people are always there for us and they know we're always there for them. How could it fail?"
