Fondé en 1997 au Luxembourg, le groupe Torpid présente un peu un savant mélange équilibré de noise, de rythmes variés, de mélodies, d’émotions, sans jamais tomber dans un excès. La musique de Torpid est suffisamment subtile pour ne pas être catalogué de musique facile et elle est suffisamment alambiquée et riche pour satisfaire un public pointu, avide de technique, de recherche et de création. <br><br> On sent de loin les influences d’un groupe majeur comme Sonic Youth, Shellac ou Helmet. On est en tout cas vraiment pas surpris quand on apprend que le groupe aime citer Pavement dans ses références, car ce sens du mélodieux derrière un mur de guitares est bien à la hauteur d'un des groupes phares du noise-rock alternatif américain. <br><br> La basse de Pol Krier est omnipotente. La voix du chanteur et guitariste Gilli Milligan, qui, quand il le faut, peut être gueularde ou se fait plus discrète pour ainsi laisser plus de place aux instruments. Depuis 2003, Torpid s'est installé à Bruxelles. <br><br> Suite au départ de leur batteur Pat M. en 2004, le groupe a été rejoint par Simon F. à la batterie et a commencé à composer de nouveaux titres en vue de leur cinquième album, enregistré par Steve Albini, qui sortira fin 2006, distribué par BANG. <br><br>

Oxes started in Baltimore, Maryland on August 16th, 1998. This is Madonna's birthday. Performance, Songs, Variety, Jokes. This has been their motto. They have made people rockout/laugh with their mugicianship. They helped Dan Deacon to move to Baltimore. One of them moved to a small town in Italy. One started recording bands such as Lower Dens and Wye Oak. One of them took his virtuous guitar stylings and started the Microkingdom. The one that moved to that small town later moved to Berlin because they still have good health insurance there but it enabled him to host Karaoke with Pantyload, DJ 45rpm singles at 33rpm, and make videos. Now when this group of friends get together, a massive vortex of tweets and status updates are sprinkled with homemade tagliatelle, vibrating neon psychedelic upside-down crooked triangles, and 3D glasses.
