K-X-P is a groundbreaking rock trio consisting of Timo Kaukolampi and Tuomo Puranen of Op:l Bastards fame and Anssi Nykänen, a weathered session drummer. The main reference of their hypnotic music is krautrock from 40 years back, but they do throw in a few afrobeat rhythms, ominously cinematic keyboard sound walls, hippy Middle Eastern melodies and some dancey pulse. Kaukolampi’s idiosyncratic singing style has been sorely missed, although it comes only in small doses this time. Here and there you can also make out the distant breathy vocals of Norwegian pop princess Annie.

In Zaire is a psychedelic tribal quartet involving the members of the italian duo G.I. Joe, Claudio Rocchetti and Stefano Pilia. Their performance is able to bring the audience into a psychedelic trip. But their music is not only psychedelic. They mix dub-funk drum rythms, tribal and african percussions, electrical-indian bassguitar melodies, arabic and psychedelic voices, and minimal-introspective electronic sounds.

Silvester Anfang is the Belgian Funeral Folk collective gathered in a free folk droneband. The line-up depends on who's available to record/perform. The compositions are mostly non-musical offertories to worship their almighty overlord Brohll, but every now and then things work out as free psychedelic improvisations. The country side of East-Flanders, where the band has its recording space, is essential for the atmosphere they want to create in their music. Near the canals where Canadian soldiers once fought the Germans, there lies a sort of mystical feeling of returned calmness. Silvester Anfang also breaths that tension between quietness and restlessness
