THE EX (NL) Noise / Rock / Jazz / Post-punk
The Ex
The Ex will play an exclusive show with appearance of Ken Vandermark   The adventurous, innovative Dutch band The Ex just celebrated its 33â…“ year anniversary with a series of festivals. Not merely retrospective but primarily forward-looking and adventurous. Among the many guests invited were young as well as seasoned experimental, improvising and other exciting musicians from Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, Chicago, Ethiopia, Scandinavia and Great Britain. The Ex have defied categorization ever since they started playing in 1979. Born out of the punk explosion, when anything and everything was possible, the band have still managed to retain both curiosity and passion for their music. Using guitars, bass, drums and voice as ther starting point The Ex have continued to musically explore undiscovered areas right up to the present day: the early 1980s saw collaborations with jazz musicians and an Iraqi-Kurdish band. In the 90s the group found a myriad of partners from varied musical and non-musical backgrounds including Kamagurka, Tom Cora, Sonic Youth, Han Bennink, Jan Mulder, Shellac and Wolter Wierbos. In 2002 The Ex set up a lively musical exchange with Ethiopia, which eventually led to two CD recordings and hundreds of concerts with the legendary saxophonist Getatchew Mekuria. After 33â…“ years, more than 25 albums and around 1800 performances the band continues to work as they did in when they began, completely independent of record companies, managers or roadies. Because of this ‘do it yourself’ work ethic The Ex is still a great example for other forward-thinking bands and musicians. “Staying a bird, staying independent, free if you will, for three decades, that takes skill and something else, something more like heart.” Music journalist John Corbett on The Ex. K BRANDING (BE) Noise / Free / Jazz
K Branding

K-branding is a trio composed of a drummer, a saxophonist and a guitarist. The music of K-branding is a sound between free jazz, noise, electro, no-wave and punk. The band was born in the beginning of 2004. The first aim of K-branding was to improvise in a punk rock style . After a while, effects take much place and the music becomes more experimental. The colour of K-branding was found.

In November 2004, K-branding recorded their first demo. Since March 2005, K-branding has given shows in great places like Dour Festival, VK, Rhaaa Lovely Festival, Bear Rock Festival, Recyclart, Magasin 4, ... The band has already played with Chinese Stars, L'Enfance Rouge, DAAU, Le Singe Blanc, Vandal X, Georges Leningrad, and many more.

LE SINGE BLANC (FR) Jazz Core / Noise / Alternative
Le Singe Blanc
A drum that beats, heats and sizzles. Two bass guitars, ... storming bass guitars ! Ponctuated by splutters, gurgles and pure, unadulterated babble. The occasional musical mine planted here and there and great clouds of laughing gas. A saturday night with an endless supply of kung fu films and popcorn. Psychedelic wanderings and that elusive something that gets inside your head.   Sixties pop tripping out and waking up with an industrial hangover. They themselves call it regressive rock. They are the three wild beasts that are Le Singe Blanc.
ZOFT (BE) Noise / Math Rock
Zoft

Zoft is a drum/guitar duo from Brussels. They also uses sound sculptures and home made instruments, and sometimes they scream into cheap distorded microphones... All these instruments produces light, so the whole performance is exclusively lihgtened by the music in order to create a loud and cosy intimate ambiance. Their music is energic, heavy and joyfully rythmically twisted and could be described as a mix of jazzcore, free-math-metal and cheap movie tunes.  The band was formed in 2008 and was a trio at the beginning. (with a tuba player). Now they play as a duo and have the wish to work as a plateforme where any musicians who wants to join is welcomed, in a kind of free jazz spirit.
