Soilent Green

Soilent Green is a grindcore and sludge metal band that hails from Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans.

Soilent Green was founded in 1988. Their debut album wasn't released until 1995, when Pussysoul came out on Dwell Records. The following four albums were released by Relapse Records, until they signed with Metal Blade Records for their 2008 album, Inevitable Collapse in the Presence of Conviction. To promote the album they toured with God Forbid, Dethklok, and Chimaira.[citation needed]

The band have had their share of tribulations, even violence. On 26 April 2004, bassist Scott Williams was killed in an apparent murder/suicide by his roommate. Then, in September 2005, former singer Glenn Rambo was killed in Hurricane Katrina.

Coverage of the band has been positive. In 2006, Soilent Green was featured in Metal Maniacs magazine in an article about the New Orleans metal scene. Soilent Green was also featured in Rolling Stone as one of the top 25 most influential metal bands.

In 2009, they were featured on the first episode of season four on the Adult Swim show Squidbillies, episode 41, entitled "Lerm". They performed the main title theme in a cowpunk/sludge style.

Today is The Day
Today is The Day

Led by visionary frontman Steve Austin, Today Is The Day reigns as one of the most unique and influential bands of the past two decades. The band's violent and anthemic style, which blends metal, noise, psychedelia, and rock, has won worldwide acclaim ever since the debut album, Supernova, first hit in the early 90s. Nine studio albums have been released on such labels as Amphetamine Reptile and Relapse -- including modern-day classics like Willpower, Temple of the Morning Star, and In the Eyes of God -- and the band's changing lineup has included such musicians as Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, who would later go on to form Mastodon. Today Is The Day has toured the world with Motorhead, Helmet, The Melvins, Morbid Angel, Converge, Napalm Death, Neurosis, Eyehategod, Unsane, Coalesce, and many more. Steve Austin has also made a name as a producer, helping create seminal albums for Lamb Of God, Converge, Deadguy, and more.

DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT (UK) Black Metal / Sludge
Dragged Into Sunlight
The elusive Dragged Into Sunlight comprises an increasing number of anonymous wrongdoers, known only by their initials.   Scribed as thriving "on chaos.... dirty smoke, coke mirrors and painful feedback" (Iron Fist), Dragged Into Sunlight released its debut full length Hatred for Mankind produced by Tom Dring and Billy Anderson (Eyehategod) on Prosthetic Records in 2011.  Some 5 years after its release, Hatred for Mankind continues to set the benchmark for an ultimately unique yet extreme sound.   The monolithic Widowmaker surfaced in 2012 to widespread critical acclaim.  Delivering a crushing slab of everything heavier than everything else, Widowmaker captures a single 40 minute recording praised as "a systematic rite of destruction leaving no synapse or nerve ending unscathed" (Metal Hammer).   Dragged Into Sunlight unleashed its unholy meeting of minds with prolific cave dwellers, Gnaw Their Tongues in late 2015.  Channelled into a conceptualised nightmare by Justin Broadrick (Godflesh), the collaboration sees every note lobotomised, exorcising another brutalised assault of total aural madness.  NV is yet another skin mask for Dragged Into Sunlight, one best illustrated by the extraordinary cover art of Seldon Hunt (Khanate).   Having gained notoriety for their exclusive, vicious and ritualistic live performances, Dragged Into Sunlight has established a growing presence throughout Europe, Asia and the US touring alongside the likes of Weedeater, Black Cobra, Rwake, Today is the Day, Mayhem and Soilent Green.  In addition, several high profile appearances at festivals such as Roadburn, Maryland Deathfest, SWR and Incubate have cemented the band's reputation as a force to be reckoned with.   Most recently, Dragged Into Sunlight embarked on a month long trail of destruction across the US with Primitive Man and Cult Leader in tow.  Delivering a series of sold out shows in New York, LA, Chicago and Philadelphia amongst others, Dragged Into Sunlight's relentless warpath has continued to ascend from strength to strength.
VALBORG (DE) Punk / Metal / Death Metal
Valborg

Valborg, an old name for Walpurgis; a strong relation to witches, visions, ancient powers, punk and blasphemic death metal rock.
Born to create unadorned and truthful music. Valborg is a live band through and through. Even in the studio Valborg prefers to record everything live as a three-piece on analogue tape. No technical botcheries, just the truthful and unadorned face of the musicians. Due to this Valborg is a well-practised war machine.
Don’t miss their heavy and atmospheric show of cold groovy metal, melodic spaces, all hidden in blue light, fog and darkness. Feel the aggression rise!

"Those who fell headfirst and happily into the cozy darkness of Glorification of Pain will undoubtedly find loads to enjoy here. And if you've yet to receive the Valborg indoctrination and love the idea of weirdly progressive heavy metal with mountains of peculiar twists and turns, welcome to one of your top albums of 2010. "

DANISHMENDT (FR) Dark / Noise
Danishmendt

Danishmendt is a French band born in 2004. Their first line-up recorded a live demo. After a few months, new musicians joined, since then, Danishmendt released an Ep, L’Homme est un animal qui a trahi in 2006 and an album, Eaux-Fortes, in 2007.

"Try to imagine an up-tempo Khanate playing heavily drugged-out Thorns covers, or a rusted, scrapyard Meshuggah, at their most psychedelic, trapped and flailing in a hall of mirrors and you’ll be some way toward approximating the sound made by these five deviants. Kin to such degenerates as Gnaw, Axis Of Perdition and fellow countrymen Celeste, Danishmendt are a pulsing, throbbing black hole of bleakly kaleidoscopic riffs, hoarse, phlegm-spattered vocals and hissing, dreadful dark ambience."

Your Highness
Your Highness emerged from the swamps of Antwerp. Armed with a huge DIY-spirit and a first full-length (Cults 'n' Cunts, Hammerheart rec. 2011), they started bulldozing the underground scene in Belgium and abroad.  They released a 3-song EP (Blue Devils, Hoogheid rec., 2012) and a split-LP with Hedonist (Roughtrade, 2014). Both received positive responses from fans and promotors and got them to play Desertfest Belgium, Ieperfest, Rock Herk, Antwerp Metal Fest, ... and support bands like Corrosion of Conformity, The Sword, Torche, Karma to Burn, Acid King, ASG, Fucked Up, Saviours, Weedeater and The Shrine just to name a few.   Starting 2015, City in Ruins was released: a new full-length album, written, recorded (with the help of Epic Productions) and released over the course of one year. More sweetness to come as Your Highness is joining hands with Trix Antwerp as Artist in Residence and are playing Roadburn, Groezrock, Graspop, Pukkelpop, Into The Void, Akkerpop and many more.
