The Black Dahlia Murder

The Black Dahlia Murder are a metal band from Waterford, Michigan, formed in 2000. Their band name is derived from the unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short, often referred to as; Black Dahlia, Black Dahlia Murder or BDM.

Current Line-Up:
Trevor Strnad – lead vocals (2000–present)
Brian Eschbach – guitar, (2001–present)
Ryan Knight – guitar (2008–present) (ex-Arsis)

The Black Dahlia Murder gained their final band line-up in January 2001 and released their first demo entitled What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse, and a four-track EP, A Cold-Blooded Epitaph, the latter of which the group released on its own Lovelost Records. After appearing in concerts such as the Milwaukee Metal Fest, The Black Dahlia Murder signed to Metal Blade Records in 2003.

The band played in Ozzfest 2005 and also participated in the Sounds of the Underground tour in 2006, which encompasses both the United States and Canada. They also played at Wacken Open Air in 2007.

Current bassist Bart Williams left his former band, Detroit’s Today I Wait, to tour with the Black Dahlia Murder. After touring with the band on their co-headlining gig with Throwdown and their European dates with Liar, he joined the group full-time, replacing former bassist David Lock. Frontman Trevor Strnad said that Lock was fired for incompetency. Williams was one of two engineers (the other being Walls of Jericho’s Mike Hasty) on the band’s first full-length album, Unhallowed.

The band’s second album Miasma peaked at #118 on the Billboard 200. After touring for the Miasma record drummer Zach Gibson left the band leading to Pierre Langlois joining. Zach Gibson went on to join Abigail Williams. Recently, Pierre Langlois left the band for a more secure lifestyle, and the band has finished their search for a replacement drummer and found former All That Remains drummer, Shannon Lucas.

Their third album, entitled Nocturnal, was released on September 18, 2007. The album debuted at #72 on the Billboard 200.

The Black Dahlia Murder announced on their MySpace that they were going on a U.S. tour with Cannibal Corpse to promote their new album Nocturnal and celebrate the 25 years that Metal Blade Records has been in business. They were joined by label-mates The Red Chord, Aeon, The Absence, and Goatwhore.

In January/February 2008, the band embarked on a U.S. headlining tour with 3 Inches of Blood, Hate Eternal, and Decrepit Birth, followed by another alongside Brain Drill and Animosity. They were on Hot Topic’s “Summer Slaughter Tour” with Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, Vader, Whitechapel, and Despised Icon.

Recently the band has announced that long time lead guitarist John K has left the band and has been replaced by Ryan Knight.

In May 2009, The Black Dahlia Murder released their first DVD, “Majesty”. The DVD contains a documentary and live footage from the Summer Slaughter tour and their tour supporting Children of Bodom in late 2008. The DVD also contains all of their music videos and behind the scenes footage.[6]

The Black Dahlia Murder released Deflorate on September 15, 2009 via Metal Blade Records. In addition to hitting the #43 position in Billboard’s Top 200 charts, the record came in at #5 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, #4 on Billboard’s Top Hard Music Albums chart, and #50 on HITS Top 50 Albums chart. They toured with Children of Bodom and Skeletonwitch in support of the album.

On July 7, 2009, their song “What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse” was made available as downloadable content for Rock Band.

The band released its newest album “Ritual” on June 21st 2011, and headlined the 2011 summer slaughter tour with whitechapel and dying fetus.

EMETH (BE) Metal / Grind-death / Death Metal / Grindcore
EMETH
The most notorious pack of degenerates from Belgium Emeth, which features in its ranks ex-Aborted guitarist Matty Dupont and Blood Red Throne bassist Erlend Caspersen, has set "Telesis" as the title of its highly anticipated third album, due early 2008 via Brutal Bands. The band recently finished recording their new album at Hertz Studios with the Wieslawscy brother's as producers and is currently mixing eleven tracks for this new effort.

Emeth is know as a band which has its roots in death metal, but at the same time, as one that has never been afraid to experiment. This third opus shows the band progressing into a heavier, tighter and more technically advanced direction with memorable and inventive song structures and a natural yet modern production.
Apocryph
The story of Apocryph began on a hot Belgian summer day, August 2004. Nico (guitar) and Gijs (guitar), who both play in the Ghent-based death-grind formation Serial Butcher, decided to form a melodic death metal band. With the aid of a drumcomputer, the duo starts rehearsing. Koen (bass), also in Serial Butcher, is very enthusiastic when he hears the very first Apocryph songs. He decides to join in on the melodic death metal fun. Some more songs are being rehearsed, and the trio starts an intensive search for a drummer and a singer. The next few months, several candidates pass by, but none seem to really fit in and make the Apocryph puzzle complete. March 2005, the Apocryphians bump on to drummer Youri (also playing in brutal death metal sensation Leptotrichia). They decide to join forces. May 2005, the quartet decided to enter the CCR studio to record a song for the third Deathmetal.be compilation CD. The vocals on this one are done by Dimitri ‘El Grunto’ Janssens, currently in Fungus Inc. The result sounds very promising: melodic, yet brutal; aggressive, yet catchy. At the end of the hot summer of 2005, some great vocalists appear, but it’s Jo (also in mothra) who fills in the empty space behind the microphone. Although a new member arrived, another member left. Youri has quit his drumming duties in Apocryph due to a lack of motivation. They struggled untill the next warm summer without a drummer. Some appear but none were capable to fill in the role of fellow apocryphian... Untill july 2006, cause there was some groovy news this time: Apocryph welcomes drum-wizard Gert Monden (In Quest) to their ranks. Apocryph successfully started playing gigs in 2007 and there are plans for a mini-CD on Rotten To The Core, a small Belgian label. The release is scheduled for summer 2007. A song from our debut CD will also appear on the 5th deathmetal.be sampler. Now, mid-September 2007, Apocryph’s debut "Drenched in Grace" is ready to be unleashed. Be sure to check on this paragon of energetic, powerful melodic death metal.

The End Of All Reason is a non-stop evolving machine that combines extreme melodic riffing with elements of classic deathmetal and hardcore and turns it into a progressive mixture of styles. In an era where metal and hardcore bands are overpopulated, TEOAR has made it their number one priority to stand out.

When the band rose to its feet back in '04 their music was allready heavily influenced by swedish metal, but now, three years later, this band has got so much more to offer. With blistering live performances and a brand new EP on the way, they are eager to prove their evergrowing skills. Right now, the myspace contains an older song called 'Does a peacock need all those feathers?' which was recorded some time ago.

Psalm
Psalm is a human concept based on personal relationships and on created experiences. We are prisoners of our own lives, nobody can help us. Their music is dedicated to the people who realize that selfishness is not a way of life. When you listen to Psalm for the first time, it's very difficult to perceive their influences. That's because their influences are just a reflection of what theyve been listening to: Psalm sounds like a new branch of the European scene. Psalms creators had the oportunity to tour around Europe with their previous bands "Broken Promises" and "Zaccharia (headliners European tour, support act of the Sepultura 2003 European tour, the Pressure Fest, San Feliu Fest, Good Life Fest, Vort N Vis Fest and many more...). They have played with bands like: Sepultura, Converge, Martyr ad, Hatebreed, Catharsis, Youth of Today, Poison The Well, Envy, Caliban, Heaven Shall Burn, Burn Hollywood Burn, Jane, Arkangel, Length Of Time, Norma Jean, The Blamed, Bleading Through, Atreyu and many many more. Psalm have recently returned from the Austin Enterprise Studio in Lunenburg, MA USA where they recorded 12 conceptual songs with Steve Austin (lamb of God, Today is The day, Converge, Voivod). Psalm is now ready to rock your mind with their their first album "Fortune's Complexity (in five cycles of torments)" out in April 2006 on genet records!!
When Blood Burns
< « When blood burns » was born in September 2006 from the fusion of two young bands from Brussels « Mushpeet (hardcore)» and « Vidism (melodic metal core)».

In the beginning, there was Nico singing, Brian and Ben playing guitar, Fabian playing bass and John at the drums. The band soon begins composing a couple of songs, giving itself a musical identity and a particular universe.

The guys are influenced by the numerous bands they like, mostly involved in the new American scene (« New wave of American heavy metal ») but also in hardcore, thrash, and death metal.

Therefore, you can hear melodic parts, mixed with « beat down » ‘s, and screams / growls definitely efficient.

After two months of hard rehearsing, « When blood burns » ‘s line-up encounters some changes in November 2006, as Nico decides to quit for personal reasons.

Then Fabian takes the mic. But that change is followed by a stand-by period, because of the intensive search for a bassist and a second singer. December 2006 is a new start for the band, with the arrival of Gaëtan (ex-Vidism ) as second singer and Arnaud (ex-singer of Dark sensation and guitarist in Bloody hands) at the bass.
