For more than 28 years, the NYC-based and critically acclaimed Slackers have been touring the world with their blend of Ska, Reggae, and Soul.
Since the early 1990s, the Slackers have released fifteen records and countless singles while their live performances feed their fans with their energetic sets of ecstatic music. And the press agrees: Modern Vinyl says “For some bands, hitting 25 years together seems light years away. For The Slackers, it’s a cause for celebration. The band is deeply rooted within the ska movement, while their “Jamaican Rock n’ Roll” sound sets them apart from many bands today.
Other press state that the Slackers are “the best ska band in the world” (Rude International), “the pick of the US crop” (Metal Hammer), “the sound of New York’ (New York Times), “is about as close to perfect as it gets” (Ink 19), and “one of the best bands in the United States” (axs.com).
Their festival performances have included Punk Rock Bowling, Fest Florida, Boomtown Fair, Santa Monica Pier Twilight Concert Series, Rebellion Fest, Summerjam, Mighty Sounds, Ruhrpott Rodeo, Shamballa, Pouzza Fest, Montreal Jazz Festival, Austin Reggae Fest, Dour Fest, Lowlands, and many others.
Their headline dates in 2018 included venues such a sellout of the Regent in Los Angeles, a sellout of Slim’s in San Francisco, a 2 night sold out stand at the Horshoe Tavern in Toronto, a 3-night stand at Reggie’s in Chicago, and some 90 other shows.
Upcoming gigs include the ‘Big Slack Give Back’ free summer concert series, a 3 night stand at the Kingsland in Brooklyn, the Sierra Nevada Reggae Festival, and a 24 date tour of Europe. Looking to fill 30 more tour dates by the end of the year! See you there!
The band is currently touring behind their latest single, ‘Wrongful Suspicion’ on Badasonic Records.

Back in 2001 four of us wanted to play ska music and founded The Nice Guys. This all started with the first two recordings, 'Ska Party' and 'Toepe Len'. We only used Drums, Keys, Guitar and bass-guitar. These songs were very basic and 2tone-oriented. From that day on we moved more and more towards a traditional style of ska and reggae, adding horns, turning the keys into a decent Hammond and piano, using upright bass, and now we’re a band of 9 musicians. Since 2010 we've been playing in this same line-up.
Spring 2013 we went to Majestic Studio to record 7 new songs. The people at Majestic were excited and offered us a recorddeal to release this mini-album on their label. In august 2013 we were proud to present our ep “Sweet & Dirty”. To release this album with a big-bang, we had the opportunity to share stage with The Skatalites, the day before our official release party.
February 2014 the Pirates Crew Soundsystem released a 7" to celebrate their 10th anniversary with Collieman + Saimn-i and Blackout JA. Both of the songs had the intrumental of Touched By a Stranger performed by The Nice Guys as backing.
June 2014 we went back into the Majestic studio. We recorded 14 songs and in november 2014 the full album “Rude On Friday” was released. For the vinyl-lovers we even made a special limited edition coloured viny, which was a succes!
September 2016 was the time to launch a new EP, titled 'Teach Me A Lesson'. 5 brand new ska songs came to life on this cd and vinyl release.
Ever since those recordings we've been playing at a lot of nice festivals and big stages, such as Copacobana Festival, Pole Pole Festival, Trefpunt Festival, Charlatan Ghent, Reggae Geel, ... .
For now, we keep working on new stuff for the upcoming gigs. So for every nice stage you know, we're always available to ratify your line-up!
