With 2017 marking the U.K. Subs’ 40th anniversary; this legendary punk band continues to represent the true spirit of punk rock. Inspired by the Damned at the birth of British Punk, the now equally legendary Charlie Harper formed the Subs out of his then R&B outfit The Marauders, circa summer 1977. Starting out as The Subversives, the name was shortened to The Subs and then changed to U.K. Subs, whilst early line-ups merged their high-speed R&B sound into punk. October 1977 saw Charlie joined by Nicky Garratt on guitar, and it was the Harper/Garratt song writing partnership that would go on to collaborate on the band's most successful record releases. Through 1977 and 1978 the band played shows all over London including the infamous Roxy punk club, building up a fiercely loyal and sizeable following. Their first ‘recorded’ output was on the ‘Farewell To The Roxy’ LP. This bought them to the attention of John Peel who was obviously impressed enough to offer to finance their first single. However, City Records ended up releasing their first brilliant single, C.I.D, in September 1978. It became a huge indie number 1 hit. In 1979, they signed to Gem Records and surprised everyone by becoming one of the most consistently and visibly successful punk bands, with seven consecutive UK Top 30 hits between 1979-81 - Stranglehold, Tomorrows Girls, She's Not There, Warhead, Teenage, Party In Paris and Keep On Running. They also scored two UK top ten albums - Brand New Age and Crash Course - establishing themselves throughout the world with a heavy touring schedule that still continues to this day. Led by the indefatigable 72 years young Charlie Harper - now venerated as the godfather of UK punk - the band has continued to improve through various line-ups and record companies.  Still touring worldwide, they maintain that true spirit of punk rock continuing to inspire each subsequent generation of fans. There has never been any division of fan and band with the Subs, and Charlie’s unrelenting love of his audience and music shines through. This is something that galvanized listeners of Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6music show to vote them as the most respected of Punk ‘icons’, to win the 2010 Punk World Cup. 2016 saw the eagerly anticipated final album ‘Ziezo’ released - via a fabulously successful PledgeMusic campaign - to a crescendo of critical acclaim, as they completed their quest to be the first band to release their official albums alphabetically A to Z!. The worldwide touring regime has continued apace - including the USA, Europe and Japan as the band continue to entertain and amaze with their powerful live shows. With a fabulous line up in place of Charlie, Steve Straughan on guitar, Alvin Gibbs on bass and Jamie Oliver on drums, the U.K. Subs continue to entertain, enlighten and enthuse with blistering recordings as well as their ever-popular enthralling live shows. Like a vintage wine – the U.K. Subs just get better and better. 

TV Smith was founder member, singer and songwriter for the Adverts, who formed in late 1976, and became one of the leading bands in the first wave of British punk rock. In early 1977, they performed regularly at the newly-opened Roxy Club in London, and gained cult success with the Stiff Records single "One Chord Wonders." Their next release, "Gary Gilmore's Eyes" became a hit record, leading to many radio and TV appearances and extensive media interest. A further single, “No Time To Be 21,” also entered the charts, and the band spent the rest of the year playing live, including major tours with The Damned and Iggy Pop. The album that followed in early 1978, "Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts," is still considered a genuine classic of the era and is often cited as one of the twenty best punk albums ever released.   The Adverts released one further album, “Cast Of Thousands,” before their split in 1979. Slammed by the critics at the time, the album was re-released recently on Fire Records to universal acclaim, and described by Mojo magazine as “the long lost punk album that rivals The Clash’s ‘London Calling’.”   Immediately after the break up, TV formed TV Smith's Explorers, who achieved a U.K. hit in 1980 with the single “Tomahawk Cruise” and released one album, “Last Words Of The Great Explorer” a year later. Lack of commercial success led to the band being dropped by their record label and their subsequent split. TV re-entered the live arena in 1986 with Cheap, before performing his first gigs as a solo artist in the early ’90’s. He has gone on to release a succession of critically-acclaimed albums, including “March Of The Giants” (1992), “Immortal Rich” (1995), “Generation Y” (1999), “Not A Bad Day” (2003), “Misinformation Overload” (2006), “In The Arms Of My Enemy” (2008), and “Coming In To Land” (2011). He has also been involved in a number of collaborations with other bands, most notably with German superstars Die Toten Hosen, who performed as TV’s backing band on the album “Useless.”   At the request of his fans, in 2013 TV released “The Acoustic Sessions,” an album of solo performances, recorded live in the studio with renowned producer Jon Caffery. Vive Le Rock magazine called it “an album that sits alongside the Angry Brigade output of Pete Townsend, Roger Waters and Lou Reed, but hits you with the wallop of bare knuckle punk.”  Late 2014 saw the release of a new TV Smith album entitled “I Delete," his sixteenth as a solo artist, which has been acclaimed by critics and fans alike.    Fiercely independent and determinedly embodying the original spirit of punk rock, TV continues to tour the world, bringing his epic solo show to ever-increasing audiences. Remarkably, he plays his concerts without a setlist and every performance contains a different selection of songs chosen on the night. He plays more than 120 gigs a year and has performed all over Europe, as well as the USA, Japan, Australia, South America, Russia – and even Heligoland.   Not content with playing live, TV has also has written about his on-the-road experiences in five books of highly popular Tour Diaries, described by “Sandman” and “American Gods” author Neil Gaiman as, “hilarious, honest and incredibly true.” The fifth and final volume, “Book Of The Year,” contains a write-up of every one of the 130 gigs TV played in 2013. In Autumn of 2016, TV’s first ever book of lyrics will be published by Foruli Codex. Exquisitely designed by Cure designer Andy Vella, and entitled “The Alternative Top 50,” the book comprises fifty of what are arguably TV’s best lyrics. It will be available as a conventional paperback, as well as an exclusive collectors’ hardback edition which includes a 10’ vinyl single that TV has recorded with Henry Rollins.

Riffs cinglants, textes récits sociaux en français, morceaux courts et ultra-rapides, Contingent a écumé la scène Punk-Rock belge depuis sa formation en mars 1979 par le guitariste Éric Lemaître et Bob "Killer" Seytor au chant, avec Jo "Le Rat" Fonthainas à la batterie et John "Opposition" Baine à la basse. En août, John retourne en Angleterre entamer sa carrière de poête activiste en tant que "Attila The Stockbroker", Guy "Molotoff" Delcroix le remplace, cette formation enregistre le EP "Police Control" en février 1980. En septembre, Daniel "Le Chinois" Wang remplace Jo à la batterie. Juillet 1981, le groupe enregistre 15 titres en un week-end pour un album. Le groupe se sépare un mois plus tard. En 2007, reformé à l'initiative de John "Attila", le groupe se remet à tourner et Éric enregistre tout le répertoire actualisé. En 2011, les graphistes Patrice Poch et Elzo Durt organisent l'expo-concert "Bloody Belgium", ils font part au groupe de l'intérêt qui existe pour les enregistrements de 1981. Le décès d'Éric Lemaître en 2012 semble mettre un point final à Contingent. En janvier 2013, à l'initiative du Magasin 4, une grande commémoration à sa mémoire décide le groupe à publier le CD "Destinée Fragile", avec les enregistrements de 2007. Puis James Neligan les rejoint, c'est le guitariste idéal pour une reformation qui rendra hommage à un grand bonhomme!   En 2014, le 45t "Homme Sauvage" - "Vivons Très Vite", deux titres mixés de la session de 1981, est publié sur le label Poch Records, en collaboration avec Danger Records.   2015: L'album "CONTINGENT" de1981, est publié par POCH RECORDS et DANGER RECORDS. Un LP vinyl 14 titres, avec insert 4 pages contenant les paroles en français et en anglais, des photos d'époques ainsi que l'historique du groupe.
