WASHINGTON DEAD CATS
Psychobilly / Rockabilly

The Washington Dead Cats are like a unsinkable ship. They sail through the fashions and trends marked by musical currents ranging from R’n’B to pop of the pop, they never deviate from their course: rock’n’roll. They retain a loyal european audience, who knows the group sincere. As their terrific live performance is an evidence of that sincerity. They love rock’n’roll and that is their weakness. For them it is not only the music of an era which is represented by films such as «Grease». It’s a lifestyle and an adventure closer to «The Wild One.» A leading group of alternative punk rock in France for some (they sold over 200 000 records), or psychobilly pioneer in the world for others, they are atypical. Their new album to be released 9th of september 2013 is all of that. They draw from the roots of what they consider asrock’n’roll: blues, jazz, country, rockabilly, gospel, garage & punk rock, that is to say music having a soul. The sound of the W.D.C is a mix between the velvet voice or wild yellin’ of their charismatic singer, Mat Firehair, the Gretsch sound of their guitarist Lord Fester considered as one of the best rockabilly guitarists in France, a swinging and energetic bass and drums and at last a horn section blasting everything. They just recorded a new album sounding more raw, as in an emergency, closer to how they sound live. The Washington Dead Cats offer us an album of authentic, modern, romantic and violent rock’n’roll at times. It is served by songs blending humor and despair as well as glamor and punk rock.
